Electricity and Magnetism – Complete Topic List

A. Electrostatics

B. Current Electricity

In this section, we will study Electrostatics, beginning with electric charge and its basic properties, along with conductors, insulators, and different methods of charging. We will explore Coulomb’s law and the concept of the electric field, including field lines and electric flux. Gauss’s law and its applications will help us analyze symmetric charge distributions. We will also discuss electric potential, potential difference, and equipotential surfaces, along with the relationship between electric field and potential. The section concludes with the study of electric dipoles, capacitance, different types of capacitors, and the energy stored in a capacitor.

In this section, we will explore Current Electricity, starting with the ideas of electric current, current density, drift velocity, and mobility. We will review Ohm’s law and understand resistance and resistivity in different materials. The behavior of circuits in series and parallel will be discussed, along with internal resistance, EMF, and how real cells operate. Kirchhoff’s laws will help us analyze complex circuits, followed by applications such as the Wheatstone bridge and the potentiometer. The section also covers electrical power, electrical energy, and the different ways cells can be combined to achieve desired voltage and current.
